On the margins of the 121st Session of the OACPS Council of Ministers in Brussels, the, Honourable Dr. Phenyo Butale, held bilateral consultations with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Republic of Rwanda, Honourable Olivier Jean Patrick Nduhungirehe.

The Ministers reviewed the state of bilateral relations and exchanged views on regional and international issues of mutual interest. Botswana expressed appreciation for the successful convening of the Joint Permanent Commission for Cooperation (JPCC) and the recent State Visit, noting the significant progress achieved in advancing cooperation between the two countries. Honourable Dr. Butale reaffirmed Botswana's commitment to the implementation of the agreed outcomes as a means of further strengthening the longstanding partnership.

The meeting concluded with Honourable Nduhungirehe briefing Botswana on the forthcoming Africa Water and Sanitation Leadership Symposium, scheduled to take place in Kigali, Rwanda, from 17–21 August 2026. He welcomed Botswana's confirmation of participation and expressed appreciation for the country's continued support of regional cooperation initiatives.
